Father's Day 2015
Today is Father's Day and I want to tell you guys a story about this guy.
At the age of 18, he chose to take me on....a single mom with 2 small boys (ages 3 and 5), whose father had just passed away.
He is now 33 years old and we have been together 16 years. We have raised 3 beautiful boys and have built a simple and beautiful life.
The two little boys he chose to be a father to are now 22 and 20, and our youngest son is 12.
He has provided for our family on every level and our boys have been able to grow up secure and supported in a way that I was never able to as a child.
He taught our children that it's ok to feel, that saying I'm sorry doesn't mean you're weak, and neither does crying. He taught them how to love, by loving them unconditionally.
My heart is grateful and this weekend it spilled onto the canvas. Below is the Father's Day gift the boys and I created for him. They each contributed to the canvas...my 20 year old added the words on the boy's shirt and my 12 year old painted the crown on his head. They then wrote messages to their dad on the back of the canvas. Our 22 year old is away at school but was able to text me a message to include from him.
I hope he understands just how much his Love has helped each of us grow.
